Battle at Lund Champions game 2: Cyphon vs Kozlov

The second game was agaisnt Khador, and so I knew I'd be taking Cyphon, as he is just better than my Ossrum build into armor.

I was playing against Nikolaj Ulf, and he chose Kozlov. Hist list:

Kozlov
- Decimator
- Juggernaut
Malakov
- Juggernaut
Drakhon
Uhlan Kovnik Markov
Max Uhlans
Joe
Max Winter guard with 3 rockets

My opponen got the first turn, and so I chose a side where I could easily contet one of the zones with a unit of benders hiding behind a huge building. My game plan was to clear the left zone and start dominating it with Cyphon.

In both our turns, we run. He has fury on Uhlans, and I have onslaught on Cyphon.

In his turn, he clears quite a few risen and some drudges. He also manages to remove a wrecker and the subduer. Here, I think I made a mistake in positioning in my previous turn. I had to move one heavy into a threatening postion to force Uhlans to commit, but there was no need to have two up there.

I feat and remove all his Uhlans; I also put perseverance on one Wrecker. I jam the draghun on the right with risen, do some boxes to him with Thrall Warrior. I also contest the zone with drudges. In the left zone, I use my overlords and my ambushing slavers (+adrenal flood)  to remove Markov. I also jam the heavy in the zone a bit and do some initial damage to it with one adrenal flooded slaver.

He uses a combination of shooting and melee to remove my non-perseverance wrecker. IIRC, I was sure he would remove the wrecker with shooting anyway, so decided to walk toward he shooters. If that was the case then I currently view it as a mistake, as it move the wrecker into melee threat range of his Jug in the center, freeing shooters up for other targets. He also does some work on slavers and risen, but that's fairly inconsequential.

I decide that I want to remove the heavy in the zone and run there wih Cyphon to dominate. I remove the center jug with my wrecker (wreckers are really good against low def targets that are within walking range). Drudges together with overlords do some damage to the other jug but leave him on some boxes. Since the jug isn't removed, instead of running into the zone I walk and try to finish him with Gallows but fail. On the right, the jamming continues, and I even shoot a bit at the winter guard with my sprays through the building.

Las turn, I did a critical positioning mistake. Cyphon is not within 3" of the one remaining wrecker. Winter guard do some shooting and kill Cyphon.

Lessons learned:
1. Only offer one heavy in trades.
2. Never forget about shooting assassination threats with Cephalyx (they are usually safe, but failing to stay within 3" of monstrosities renders this immunity void).
